What to Wear for a Weekend in Rutland

Our favourite outfits for 48 hours in our hometown

Although Rutland is the UK’s smallest county, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do while you visit. Made up of quaint market towns, independent shops and delightful British pubs, our home is one that offers visitors a true taste of unspoilt British countryside.

Here are our top tips on what you should do during a weekend in Rutland and, because we love playing dress up, we’ll include what we would wear while doing them.

Brunch at a Local Cafe

Have a chilled morning and go for a walk down Oakham’s high street as the shops begin to open up for the day. Make sure to wander around all of the quaint, cobbled back streets as there’s where you’ll come across hidden gems such as the colourful Dean Street and the local park.

Once the hustle and bustle of the weekend begins to pick up, pop into one of our favourite local cafes and enjoy a wide of fresh and delicious brunch options. Here are some recommendations:

What we’d wear:

Our Orange Smock Maxi Dress. Its vibrant colour and floral pattern make a real statement while its cinched waist and floaty midi length create a super flattering silhouette. Its elasticated material also provides plenty of room for brunch!

Also, our new anklets are an absolute summer staple. We’d definitely be getting a matching one for the bestie we’d be meeting up with!

A Day on Rutland Water Beach

An expected feature of Rutland Water is its 140 metres of sandy shoreline. Situated in between Whitwell and Empingham down Sykes Lane, Rutland Water Beach reopens on 24th June between 10am and 6pm at weekends, and 12pm until 5pm on weekdays.

Take your dog and your kids for a spot of paddling, playing and BBQing - there’s no better place to spend a summer day!

What we’d wear:

A poncho is the perfect layer to add over a bikini for a day spent by the water. It can be easily thrown on for trips to the cafe or when playing with the kids and its breathable material allows you to cover up without being too hot. We have Pink Snake Print and Black available.

We’d also have to take a Terrie Jute Bag, its woven material makes us feel like we’re in the South of France and it's also big enough to hold all sorts, towels, suncream, snacks - the lot!

Drinks in a Beer Garden

Choose from many lovely locations in Rutland to chill out and soak up the evening sunshine with an ice-cold beer in hand.

Any of the beer gardens featured below offer a serene spot to relax, meet up with friends and make the most of the long, warm nights. Most of these places offer food options that you’ll be able to grab if you’re feeling peckish before dinner.

What we’d wear:

As the sun starts to go down, the weather can start to turn a bit chilly. So, we’d opt for a pair of loose-fitting, cotton Wide Leg Jeans that have enough movement to keep you cool, but will also keep you warm enough to stay outside all night.

We would pair these with a knitted Crochet Vest to look effortlessly cool and summery.

An Evening of Delicious Food

From fine dining to more casual options, there are plenty of places in Rutland to spend an evening enjoying good food, wine and company.

But with so many beautiful restaurants, it can be quite a task to pick a place. That just means you’ll have to extend your visit for longer to tick them all off your list…

What we’d wear:

Our V-neck Midi Dress in Green has been screaming at us to find somewhere to wear it to since it was brought into our shop and one of the above restaurants would be perfect.

We’d have to take along a matching Green Leather Bag, its metallic hue adding just the right amount of sparkle for a night out.
